Originally composed as incidental music for Alphonse Daudet's play of the same name (1872), the suite draws on the vivid folk melodies and dramatic contrasts of Provence to create a work of extraordinary atmosphere and emotional range — from the stately grandeur of the Prélude to the tender lyricism of the Adagietto and the irresistible energy of the Carillon. Though Bizet died before seeing his music achieve the fame it deserved, L'Arlésienne has since become a staple of the concert repertoire worldwide.

This concert band arrangement by Martin Tousignant brings the lush, colorful textures of Bizet's original to the wind band medium, preserving all the drama, atmosphere, and melodic richness of the suite.
