Bach - Air from Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D for String Quartet (Digital PDF Download)
Air from Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D for String Quartet was composed by Johann Sebastian Bach (1686-1750). This edition was published by Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings in 2017 and is scored for String Orchestra or String Quartet
This narrative song is a re-telling of the story of David and Goliath from 1 Samuel: 17. It describes the wonder of the crowd, marveling first at what they regard as the impunity; and later at the bravery of David as he kills the Philistine giant. Edwards's setting employs both rhythmic and harmonic choral ostinati and intersperses David's calm reasoned statements with the mutterings and exclamations from the crows as they observe the scene.
Fillmore - Rolling Thunder (Brass Band), arr. Marc Oliver
Rolling Thunder is a circus march written by Fillmore in 1918. Fillmore, an aficionado of circus music and himself a trombone player in a few circus bands, wrote this march with a challenging part for trombone. Transcribed here for Brass Band.
