Here's a book you'll be pulling off the shelf for many Christmases to come. A Celtic Fiddle Christmas is a treasury of 24 Irish, Scottish, Welsh and English holiday carols all suitably adorned with Celtic calligraphy. Simple duets for two fiddles, a round for three, and arrangements for solo fiddle with guitar chords are all printed on a large, easy to read staff. From the hauntingly beautiful melodies of the Hebrides, to the ancient airs of Ireland, to the familiar Yuletide tunes of Wales, England and Scotland, these songs are sure to warm your heart and rouse the spirit of this giving season in a way no other music can.

Students just beginning to learn an instrument naturally want to advance quickly beyond simple melodies to something more 'popular', but beginning techniques are not enough to allow them to enjoy this type of music as much as they would when singing it. This set of pieces is meant to help bridge that gap, step by step. The pieces gradually progress from very easy to medium advanced, constantly teaching something new. Articulation, phrasing, rhythm, and harmony are all addressed, with special attention paid to the characteristics of pop music. Instrumental parts for violin, flute, viola, and cello are available separately. These parts can be used separately or together in unison. In English and German.

Airs & Dances is a collection of Scottish strathspeys (rugged, lyrical dance tunes) for violin and other melodic instruments. Strathspeys are usually played slower than reels, with many long-short dotted rhythmic patterns. This compilation features some of the best-known strathspeys as well as some of the quirkier, rarer tunes in this wonderful repertoire. The pieces are arranged chronologically.

The melodies as written are the skeletons of the tunes, without much additional information like bowings, dynamics, and articulations. This presentation allows the reader to both learn the melodies in their most general sense as well as use their creative judgment to vary each tune's melody and nuances. Each piece is framed with historical and cultural context, and audio is available online.

This collection contains 16 traditional fiddling tunes from across North America. They are arranged in a theme and variation format, typical of American fiddling. The authentic fiddling style harmonies are written so that various combinations from solo instrument with piano to duets and trios to full string quartet/orchestra are possible. Included are two violin parts and piano accompaniment. American Fiddle Tunes for Solo and Ensemble books are written as ensemble books, so they can be played as solo books with piano accompaniment or together as ensemble. A separate 32-page insert pull-out part for the piano is provided.

Dr. Lawrence Golan's edition of Bach's masterpieces for solo violin combines the authenticity and accuracy of a Scholarly Urtext Edition with the practicality and helpfulness of a Performing Edition. A facsimile of Bach's autograph manuscript was used in the preparation of this edition and the composer's intentions have been preserved to the last detail. Of particular note is the fact that all stems have been beamed together as they appear in the autograph manuscript. This is of great importance when making interpretive decisions regarding dotted rhythms. Helpful fingering and bowing suggestions are provided by the editor, but are clearly distinguished from Bach's original notation, allowing the performer the freedom to accept or reject any given suggestion. The volume comes complete with Dr. Golan's essay 'Performing Bach: Dotted Rhythms and Trills in the Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin,' which also includes scholarly discussions of vibrato, fingerings, bowing styles, and ritardandos in Baroque music. The inclusion of this comprehensive study of Baroque performance practices makes this edition a must for any violinist interested in performing the Bach Sonatas and Partitas in an historically informed manner.
