Johann Sebastian Bach’s Fifteen Two-Part Inventions, BWV 772–786 are among the most important and enduring works in the piano teaching repertoire. Composed around 1720 as pedagogical pieces for his son Wilhelm Friedemann, Bach intended them to teach students “clear playing in two voices” and “an introduction to good inventions.” Nearly three centuries later, they remain essential milestones in the development of every serious pianist.
