It also has a lower and upper toomba (upper toomba is also considered a gourd) that act as resonating chambers for sound. The Saraswati veena takes its name from the four-armed Goddess of knowledge and the arts. The Goddess Saraswati is represented as sitting on a lotus and with 2 of her hands she plays the veena.
