About the Composer
Johnny Edwards II is Director of Choral Activities at Newton High School in Covington, Georgia. A veteran educator with nineteen years of teaching experience at both the middle and high school levels, he has composed original works for each of his ensembles throughout his career. He also serves as Minister of Music of Children at Berean Christian Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Edwards holds a BM in Music Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University and an MM in Music Education with a concentration in Choral Conducting from Georgia College and State University. His musical achievements include arranging music for the Closing Ceremonies of the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics and for the grand champion of the Savannah Onstage National Singing Competition. He has served as music director for numerous theatrical productions, including The Wiz, Annie, Oliver, Anne of Green Gables, and Rent. His choral ensembles have consistently earned superior and excellent ratings at festivals and contests at every school where he has taught.
