Mozart’s Most Spectacular Aria — Arranged for Solo Trumpet and Concert Band by Marc Oliver
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791) composed the Queen of the Night Aria (“Der Hölle Rache” — “Hell’s vengeance”) for his opera Die Zauberflöte (“The Magic Flute”), K. 620, first performed in Vienna in 1791. It is one of the most technically demanding and dramatically thrilling arias ever written — a furious, vengeance-fueled outburst in which the Queen of the Night commands her daughter Pamina to murder the high priest Sarastro, soaring to a high F above high C in a series of breathtaking coloratura passages. The aria has become a global symbol of operatic virtuosity and is one of the most recognized pieces of classical music in the world.
This edition presents the Queen of the Night Aria in a concert band arrangement by Marc Oliver with piccolo trumpet soloist, capturing all the drama and brilliance of Mozart’s spectacular original. A guaranteed showstopper for any concert program.
