Puccini’s Electrifying Galop — Arranged for Concert Band by Marc Oliver
Giacomo Puccini (1858–1924) is celebrated worldwide for his great operas — La Bohème, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, and Turandot — but early in his career he also composed a number of lively instrumental pieces. Scossa Elettrica (“Electric Shock”) is one of these early works — a fast, sparkling galop that crackles with energy and wit, living up to its electrifying title with driving rhythms and irresistible forward momentum. It offers a delightful glimpse of the young Puccini’s lighter, more playful side, and makes for an exciting and crowd-pleasing concert opener or encore.
This edition presents Scossa Elettrica in a concert band arrangement by Marc Oliver. A sparkling and energetic addition to any concert program.
