Brahms's Most Radiant Choral Movement — For Treble and Women's Chorus

Johannes Brahms (1833–1897) composed Wie Lieblich sind deine Wohnungen ("How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place") as the fourth movement of his Ein deutsches Requiem, Op. 45 — one of the towering monuments of the choral repertoire. Where the surrounding movements carry the weight of grief and consolation, this movement opens into pure, luminous beauty — a radiant vision of the heavenly dwelling that has made it one of the most beloved passages in all of Brahms.

This edition presents the movement in an arrangement by Lucyanne Gordon for treble and women's chorus, making this sublime choral writing accessible to high school, collegiate, and community women's choruses. Gordon's adaptation preserves the warmth and spiritual radiance of Brahms's original in writing that lies naturally and beautifully in the treble voice.
