About the Work
Mykola Leontovich (1877–1921) was a Ukrainian composer and choral conductor whose carol Shchedryk — the source melody for Carol of the Bells — has become one of the most recognized pieces of choral music in the world. About the Arranger
Lucyanne Gordon holds a B.M. in Music Education from SUNY College at Fredonia, a Master's in Choral Conducting with an emphasis in Vocal Performance from Bowling Green State University, and a Doctorate of Arts from the University of Northern Colorado, with secondaries in Vocal Performance and Theory/Composition. She served as Interim Director of Choral Music Education at the University of Northern Colorado in 2008–9, where she taught choral methods and choral conducting, and directed the UNC Madrigal Singers and the 100-voice Women's Choir. She currently teaches voice and choir at Nardin Academy High School in Buffalo, New York. Under her direction, the Nardin Academy Choir — composed of students in grades 9–12 — has earned a Gold with Distinction award at the highest difficulty level for three consecutive years at NYSSMA. Her arrangements and compositions grow from a commitment to expanding the quality repertoire available for treble choirs.
