The World’s Most Famous Tenor Aria — Arranged for French Horn Quartet and Concert Band by Marc Oliver
Giacomo Puccini (1858–1924) composed Nessun Dorma (“None Shall Sleep”) for his final opera Turandot, left unfinished at his death and completed by Franco Alfano. It is arguably the most famous tenor aria ever written — a soaring, triumphant declaration of love and destiny that builds to one of the most thrilling climaxes in all of opera. The aria became a global phenomenon when Luciano Pavarotti performed it at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, introducing it to hundreds of millions of new listeners. Its final cry of “Vincerò!” (“I will win!”) has become one of the most iconic moments in classical music.
This edition presents Nessun Dorma in a French horn feature arrangement by Marc Oliver, with concert band accompaniment. The French horn’s rich, noble tone is ideally suited to Puccini’s soaring melodic line — bringing a new and deeply satisfying color to this beloved aria while giving your principal horn player a showstopping solo vehicle. A guaranteed highlight for any concert program.
