The Most Famous Baritone Aria in Opera — Arranged for Saxophone Quartet

Gioachino Rossini (1792–1868) composed Largo al factotum for his opera Il barbiere di Siviglia ("The Barber of Seville"), first performed in Rome in 1816. It is the most famous baritone aria in all of opera — a breathless, patter-filled self-introduction by the irrepressible barber Figaro, who boasts of his indispensability to all of Seville in a torrent of syllables and a cascade of brilliant vocal fireworks. The aria's infectious energy, wit, and sheer exuberance have made it one of the most beloved and frequently performed pieces in the operatic repertoire. This edition presents Largo al factotum in an arrangement for saxophone quartet, capturing all the wit and brilliance of Rossini's original.
