The Most Beloved Christmas Song for Voice — Arranged for Concert Band

Pietro Alessandro Yon (1886–1943) was an Italian-American organist and composer who served as organist at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. In 1917 he composed Gesù Bambino (“The Infant Jesus”), a tender and rapturous Christmas song that became one of the most beloved sacred works of the twentieth century. Set to a poem by Frederick Herman Martens, the song unfolds as a gentle, reverent lullaby that swells into a soaring declaration of faith — its melody of extraordinary warmth and beauty making it a perennial favorite at Christmas concerts and church services around the world. The work is often compared in spirit to Schubert's Ave Maria for its combination of simplicity, devotion, and overwhelming emotional power.

This edition presents Gesù Bambino in an arrangement by Marc Oliver for concert band, bringing Yon's timeless Christmas masterpiece to the wind ensemble with all its warmth and grandeur intact.
